Gold Pendants - Exquisite Jewelry

By

A gold pendant is one of the most beautiful and austere selections possible in the realm of jewelry. Gold pendants are far more valuable than necklaces because they feature exquisitely designed centerpieces that never fail to steal one's breath away. Pendants have been used throughout the centuries as symbols of class, luxury, and good taste. This symbolism is shared by gold, a metal still used today as a standard of wealth.

The reason that gold pendants are appealing to so many different kinds of people is that there are literally thousands of different designs available. A gold pendant can be as unique as the person who proudly wears it. By altering the specific alloy of gold used, the presence of gemstones, and the symbolism displayed by the pendant, you can easily customize this kind of jewelry to be exquisitely irresistible and personal.

Gold Pendant Fundamentals

If you're going to find a high quality gold pendant, you need to know certain fundamentals first. This will ensure that you're well educated as to what's available as well as what's important when considering this kind of jewelry piece. In general, the important factors to consider are the kind of gold, the presence of gemstones, and the symbolism used.

The specific alloy of gold used will determine to a large extent the quality and cost of the piece. The most common gold alloys are 10k, 14k, 18k, white gold and rose gold. The different carats denote how pure the gold is. 14k gold is the standard for gold jewelry. 10k gold pendants are slightly less pure, but they cost significantly less. White gold and rose gold are good choices if you value the elegance of gold but are looking for a different hue to the metal.

Embedding gemstones into a gold pendant is a sure way to increase the value and the aesthetic grace of the piece of jewelry. Strongly hued gemstones tend to make the strongest statements and are most easily noticed. Look for darker amethysts and garnet for semi-precious gems and rubies or emeralds in the precious category. Diamonds also make a wonderful addition to a gold pendant, particularly because the white sparkle of the diamond makes a fitting contrast to the yellow gold metal.

The symbolism used in a gold pendant will determine its significance to a particular person. Religious symbolism is often found in this kind of jewelry for multiple different creeds. Gold heart pendants are also rather common as the theme of love is very present for this kind of jewelry. A gold heart pendant makes a great gift to someone you love or care deeply for.

White Gold Pendants

Of all the different colored gold alloys, white gold is the most popular for pendants. This is because the material looks absolutely amazing, especially when paired with precious gemstones. White gold is an alloy of gold with either nickel or palladium. These other metal elements give the resultant alloy its stunning luster and silver like hue.

White gold pendants are a great choice if you want to have the value of a gold jewelry piece without the color of one. Many gemstones look even better paired with white gold than with yellow gold. A white gold pendant makes an excellent gift for pretty much any occasion since it's exceptionally beautiful, elegance, and classy. It's possible to find pretty much any variety which is available in standard gold as a white gold locket if that's how your preferences run.

Rose Gold Pendants

A rose gold pendant is precious indeed since it is rarer than other varieties. The draw of rose gold pendants are their pinkish hue, which is achieved by alloying gold with copper. Rose gold pendants are exceptional beautiful when paired with lighter toned gemstones such as white sapphires and diamonds.

Over the years I have come to value hand made jewelry so much more. I know gold is beautiful and all, but why pay a large amount of money for necklaces that are so expensive. I made a necklace for under five dollars and I receive more compliments on it that I do on any gold necklace I have ever worn.

I also love handmade jewlery... or really unique pieces that no one else sees too much of.
